State Police Renew Search Efforts in Southern Tier Woman’s Disappearance

On the 24th anniversary of Michele Harris’ disappearance, the New York State Police said they remain committed to finding answers in the case.

Harris was last seen on September 11, 2001. Despite years of investigation, her whereabouts remain unknown.

Troopers say investigators will be conducting additional searches for evidence in the coming weeks as part of their ongoing effort to bring closure to Harris’ family and the community.

In May, Michele’s husband, Calvin Harris, and their children announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of her remains. Calvin Harris was indicted for her murder in 2005 and tried four times. His first two convictions were overturned, a third trial ended in a hung jury, and in 2016, he was acquitted. Harris has consistently maintained his innocence and denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance.

State Police urge anyone with information to contact them directly at (607) 561-7400 or by email at [email protected].

“We will not stop seeking justice for Michele Harris and her loved ones,” said Captain Lucas J. Anthony of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. “Our investigators are reviewing all available leads, and we continue to ask the public to share any information that may assist us.”
