State Police Mourns Loss of K9 Lock

New York State Police at Troop “C” on Wednesday announced the unexpected death of K9 Lock.

K9 Lock passed away from an illness on Saturday, May 4th at the age of nine and a half years old. K9 Lock was assigned to Trooper Jamie M. Gockel and was his faithful partner working together out of SP Oneonta, SP Sidney, SP Kingston, and SP Catskill.

Saturday, Troopers saluted K9 Lock outside a local veterinary clinic and showed their love and support for Trooper Gockel during this difficult time.

K9 Lock was trained in explosives detection, tracking, and handler protection.

K9 Lock was named after Sergeant John H. Lockhart who died on March 23, 1937, after succumbing to a head injury as a result of a fall during a burglary call at a drugstore.
