New York State Police are investigating a deadly altercation that left two men dead late Thursday night in the Town of Chenango.

Troopers responded around 11:15 p.m. to a home at 1086 Castle Creek Road for a reported stabbing. Investigators say 50-year-old Harry Swan of Chenango and 48-year-old Jeffrey Ryan of Binghamton were involved in a violent confrontation outside the residence.

According to police, Ryan drove to Swan’s home, where the two got into a fight. Ryan allegedly stabbed Swan, who then went inside, retrieved a knife, and stabbed Ryan in return.

Swan was pronounced dead at the scene. Ryan was taken to Wilson Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and State Police say more information will be released as it becomes available.
