The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets has extended the deadline for nominations to serve on the New York Dairy Promotion Order Advisory Board for the upcoming three-year term beginning May 1, 2026.
The Advisory Board works with the state’s agriculture commissioner to help administer the Dairy Promotion Order and provides recommendations on dairy marketing, promotion, education, and research initiatives statewide.
Under the extension, nominations must now be received by Friday, February 20, 2026.
Any individual milk producer who markets milk in New York is eligible to be nominated. Nominations must come from individual producers and include a signed nomination form. Cooperatives and farm organizations may not submit nominations directly but may endorse candidates.
Each submission should include the nominee’s name and address, cooperative or organizational affiliations, herd size, market information, participation in farm programs or organizations, and any relevant marketing experience. The department will use the forms to evaluate qualifications.
Completed nomination forms or requests for forms should be sent to:

The board advises on the annual distribution of more than $16 million collected from milk producers under the producer-approved order. Funds support dairy promotion, nutrition and education programs, outreach efforts, and research into new and innovative dairy products.
State officials say New York is home to roughly 3,000 dairy farms that produce more than 16 billion pounds of milk each year, making it the nation’s fifth-largest dairy state. The dairy industry remains the state’s largest agricultural sector and a major driver of the economy.
