A Southern Tier man is facing a number of felony charges in connection with a fraud investigation at a Chemung County Credit Union.
Joshua Seidel’s arrest follows an extensive State Police investigation uncovering alleged fraudulent activities perpetrated through the use of counterfeit checks. The 32-year-old Horseheads man is accused of completing mobile deposits of numerous fraudulent checks to the First Heritage Federal Credit Union before transferring out the money, resulting in the theft of $3,700.
Seidel is charged with felony grand larceny, identity theft, and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Additional charges are pending.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
