A Southern Tier man has been charged with numerous felonies after New York State Police discovered he was illegally manufacturing ghost guns.
While investigating another matter, Troopers said they spotted illegal weapons inside a home on Lisle Road in the town of Owego.
State Police alleged John Standish was manufacturing ghost guns and was in possession of firearms that were not NY SAFE ACT compliant, high-capacity magazines and silencers. The investigation further determined that the 52-year-old does not possess a pistol permit and cannot lawfully have a firearm. Investigators also learned that Standish was using 3D printers to illegally make parts for the ghost guns.
Standish was charged with class “C” felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, two counts of the “D” felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, the class “D” felony of Criminal Possession of an Assault Weapon in the third degree, the class “E” felony of Criminal Possession of a Firearm and the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
