The Seneca Nation is again looking at property in Monroe County as a possible site to build a casino.
After proposing a casino in Henrietta almost 10-years ago, the nation, according to The Daily Record, is looking at property in the City of Rochester. Based on guidelines in its Gaming Compact with New York State, the Seneca Nation is not allowed to build another full-fledged casino anywhere west of Route 14, but they could create a slot machine facility anywhere in the region. There is no gaming facility within Monroe Country.
The nearest full casino is the del Lago Resort & Casino, in the Seneca County. del Lago is owned by Churchill Downs. Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack in Ontario County is owned by the Delaware North Companies of Buffalo.
