UPDATE:
New York State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early Wednesday morning on State Route 104 in the Town of Webster.
Troopers say the incident happened at approximately 6 a.m. when a 33-year-old pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle while in the roadway. Police say there were no marked pedestrian crosswalks in the area at the time of the crash.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators. State Police say there were no indications of impairment.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and processed the scene. Route 104 has since reopened, and the investigation remains ongoing.
State Route 104 westbound is closed between Hard Road and Five Mile Line Road in the Town of Webster following a fatal pedestrian incident that occurred earlier this morning.
New York State Police say the closure is necessary to allow investigators and emergency crews to process the scene. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Emergency personnel remain on scene, and the roadway is expected to remain closed for an undetermined period of time.
