Two physician leaders from Rochester Regional Health have been recognized nationally by Becker’s Hospital Review for their leadership in advancing clinical strategy, quality, and patient care across the communities they serve.
Robert Mayo, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, and Andrew Williams, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Rochester Regional Health’s St. Lawrence Region, were named among Becker’s 2026 Chief Medical Officers to Know, a national recognition highlighting physician executives shaping the future of hospital and health system leadership.
The annual list recognizes clinical leaders whose work strengthens medical staff collaboration, advances patient safety and quality, and guides health systems through the evolving landscape of care delivery.
Dr. Mayo has served Rochester Regional Health for more than two decades and has led the organization’s physician leadership, clinical governance, graduate medical education, research, and clinical compliance strategy since becoming Chief Medical Officer in 2013. During his tenure, he has helped strengthen clinical integration across the health system and played a central role in coordinating the region’s healthcare response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Dr. Mayo has been a steady and trusted physician leader for this organization and for our community,” said Richard “Chip” Davis, Chief Executive Officer of Rochester Regional Health. “For more than twenty years he has helped shape our clinical strategy, strengthen our medical teams, and ensure we deliver safe, high-quality care. As he prepares his next journey, we are deeply grateful for the leadership, wisdom, and integrity he has brought to Rochester Regional Health.”

His leadership bridges clinical care, public health, and community collaboration to address the unique challenges of rural healthcare.
“Dr. Williams understands this region because he serves it every day,” said Donna McGregor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rochester Regional Health’s St. Lawrence Region. “He brings together clinicians, public health leaders, and community partners to ensure care is accessible and responsive to the needs of our region. This recognition reflects the trust he has built and the meaningful impact of his leadership across our communities.”
