SHARE NOW

A Rochester area mall was shut down by police Thursday night because of large and disorderly groups of teens and young adults.

According to the Greece Police Department, at the request of Greece Ridge Mall security, officers assisted in clearing the property due to large and disorderly groups of teens and young adults. Thanks to a pre-established plan to mitigate such situations, the mall was successfully cleared without incident.

The Greece Police Department had a dedicated detail assigned to the mall and the department said its preparation helped ensure a swift and coordinated response.

Once outside the mall, several groups of teens engaged in sporadic fights in the surrounding area. Officers quickly intervened, dispersing the groups to maintain public safety. Two 16-year-old Rochester residents were arrested for disorderly conduct.

No other crimes were reported, and there was no damage to stores within the mall or surrounding businesses.
