A school resource officer assigned to one Central New York elementary school has resigned after he left his gun in the bathroom.
WSYR television in Syracuse confirmed Robert Wicks left his duty belt with a gun on the floor of a bathroom in the Rockwell Elementary School after changing from his uniform to civil clothes in a staff bathroom after school had led out for the day. A school employee later found the belt.
Wicks, who is the former police chief in Marcellus, immediately resigned from the Onondaga Central School District.
