Poll: Majority of NYers Consider Themselves Optimists

SHARE NOW

Over 3/4 of New Yorkers describe themselves as optimists.

A Sienna College Research Institute Poll found that 78% of respondents considered themselves optimists as opposed to the 21% who call themselves pessimists.

Along with this, a majority of respondents said there is more opportunity to “be who you are” and to live healthy; however, a majority also said the state of the world, politics, and the cost of living make them worry.

When broken down by income, those earning less than $50,000 admitted to being more likely to spend more time worrying than being happy.

The poll was conducted between June 12-29 among 806 residents.
