Should doctors be allowed to prescribe terminally ill patients drugs to end their own lives? The majority of New Yorkers seem to think so.
According to a Siena College Research Institute Center Poll, 58% of respondents said doctors should be allowed to do so with only 30% saying they’re against it.
The issue appears to have support across the aisle with 63% of independents, 60% of Democrats, and 49% of Republicans asked being in support of medically assisted suicide for terminally ill patients with demonstrated decision-making capacity.
Assisted suicide is legal in 10 states plus DC. New York is not one of them.
