Governor Kathy Hochul’s favorability and job approval ratings have hit all-time lows.
According to a Siena College Research Institute Poll, only 38% of those asked said they had a favorable opinion of her while 49% viewed her unfavorably. Half of those asked said they didn’t approve of Hochul’s job as governor while 44% said they did.
The majority of the governor’s support appears to come from New York City with 52% saying they approved of her. In the suburbs, only 37% approve while 57% don’t, and in Upstate New York, 40% approve while 53% don’t.
When asked whether or not they felt the governor cared about people like them, 34% said she did while 44% said she didn’t; 14% had a mixed opinion on the question, and 9% either didn’t know or had no opinion.
42% of respondents said they believe Hochul is working hard for the people of New York, compared to 36% who disagree.
All in all, 52% of New Yorkers say the state is heading in the wrong direction.
