A North Country woman is listed in stable condition after being shot by state troopers on Christmas Day.
According to state police, officers responded to the Loon Lake Mountain Trailhead in the Catskills around 10:30p for a welfare check of Jessica Chase, a Plattsburgh woman earlier reported missing.
Chase was found in her vehicle with a long gun. She allegedly drove at troopers when she was shot by them, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center for Treatment.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 518-873-2750.
