A Central New York man is accused of stealing a school bus on Tuesday.
According to the Utica Police Department, at 8:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Eagle Street and Park Avenue to assist Durham Bus employees with the theft of a school bus.
It was reported that employees noticed one of the busses missing, and upon tracking on GPS they located it near the above intersection. As they were getting ready to return to the bus to their facility they were approached by a male who was holding the key and a tablet that accompanied the bus. According to police, the man, 29-year-old Daniel Finley, was adamant that the bus and tablet were his and that no one was taking in from him.
Based on the behaviors of Finley, employees contacted the Police Department, and upon their arrival, Finley was detained for the investigation. When employees were able to view the bus camera footage they learned that Finley allegedly stole the bus around 1:00 AM and ultimately drove it to the location where they encountered it.
