A press conference regarding the ongoing search for homicide suspect Anthony Bechand will be held at the New York State Police Ray Brook Barracks on Thursday.  Law enforcement officials are expected to provide updates on the investigation and answer questions from the media.

Bechand of Cohoes, NY, is wanted in connection with the homicide of 41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez.

Bechand is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. Authorities believe he may be armed and dangerous.

The incident began on September 14, at around 9:15 a.m., when Cohoes Police responded to a residence on Earl Lynn Court and found Rodriguez deceased. Later that day, Bechand’s vehicle—a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado—was located at the intersection of County Routes 60 and 86 in the town of Brighton, Franklin County. Bechand is believed to have fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Search efforts are ongoing in the Gabriels area and surrounding parts of Brighton. Law enforcement is using structural and grid searches to navigate the heavily wooded terrain.

Authorities emphasize that anyone who has seen Bechand or may have unknowingly provided him transportation will not face legal trouble. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call the New York State Police at 518-897-2000.

The search involves multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Task Force, New York State Forest Rangers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Saranac Lake Police, Lake Placid Police, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Plattsburgh City Police, and the Northern Regional Response Team, in addition to other supporting local law enforcement agencies.
