Penfield Woman Arrested Following Underage Party That Left Teen Critically Injured

SHARE NOW

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Penfield woman after a Halloween night party at her home left a 17-year-old male critically injured. Deputies were first called to the home of Medina Bijelic on October 31 for teenagers throwing objects at vehicles. Later that evening, they were called back after the 17-year-old hit his head and became unconscious.

When deputies arrived, they found more than 100 underage individuals in the front yard and on the street. Inside the home, deputies observed alcohol being consumed, contradicting Bijelic’s earlier statements. Teenagers at the scene reported that the 17-year-old had consumed half a bottle of vodka and smoked marijuana before falling and hitting his head. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.46%, more than five times the legal limit.

The teen was transported by EMS to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators later determined that Bijelic had discouraged at least one teen from calling emergency services for the victim. Last Friday, deputies arrested her without incident at her home.

Bijelic faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree, all Class A misdemeanors. She was issued a Uniform Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penfield Court at a later date.
