A Pennsylvania man was charged with attempted murder following a shooting in the Southern Tier.
According to State Police, Gregory Miller, of Penndel, Pennsylvania, had been drinking alcohol for several hours at a party in Wellsville when he got into an argument with a 48-year-old man. Miller then went to his vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, and returned with a Springfield Armory .45 ACP. Miller then discharged the firearm several times at the victim, striking him one time in the lower left leg. Miller was disarmed and held down by the others at the party until Troopers arrived on the scene and took Miller into custody.
The victim was originally taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville for the non-life-threatening injury to his leg. He was later transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for further treatment.
Miller was transported to Allegany County Jail for arraignment on Attempted 2nd-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a weapon
The NYSP Forensic Identification Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Allegany County District Attorney’s Office assisted in this investigation.
