    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.
    WHEN
    Until 7 PM EST Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    At this time, the heaviest snowfall is forecast to fall across the northern tier of Northeast PA, Catskills and Susquehanna region of NY. However, minor adjustments to storm total snowfall are still possible. Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times this afternoon and evening with hourly rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour. The snow tapers down, becoming light to moderate after midnight and into Monday morning. Occasional light snow and blowing snow then continue into Monday afternoon. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Oswego County Bank Robber Caught

On December 27, 2023, at 8:49 a.m., State Police responded to a reported Bank Robbery at the Pathfinder Bank on Harwood Drive in the village of Lacona, Oswego County.

A male entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money and left the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

Following an extensive search by State Police, a suspect was captured on surveillance camera walking in the area before the robbery matching the description of the suspect from the bank photos.

On December 27, 2023, at 11:00 p.m., Trevor Spooner, age 26 from Sandy Creek, NY was located and arrested for Robbery 1st degree, a class “B” felony, and Robbery 3rd degree, a class “D” felony.  He was transported to the Oswego County CAP court to await arraignment. All of the cash proceeds from the robbery were located and recovered.

State Police was assisted at the scene by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.
