Onondaga County Deputy is NYs Boating Officer of the Year

The work done by a deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has been recognized by the state. Deputy Luke Bickford has been selected as New York State’s Boating Officer of the Year for 2023.

According to Thomas Newton, Public Information Director with the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Bickford is a dedicated Boating Law Enforcement Officer who has been working for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Navigation Unit since 2009. Deputy Bickford prides himself on making the waterways of Onondaga County a safer place for everyone to enjoy. Deputy Bickford has been involved in every aspect of the Navigation Unit not limited to but including HIN investigations, accident investigations, BWI enforcement, speed enforcement, event planning and coordination, public outreach, community relations, and education, all along with daily Marine Patrol duties.
