An Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly shooting at a tractor-trailer on I-90.

According to state police, they received the report around 7:45a on Monday that the vehicle was shot at by the operator of another tractor-trailer while traveling westbound on the interstate before exit 50.

While en route to the area, troopers were informed of a second incident, a hit-and-run side swipe collision on I-90 between a car and the tractor-trailer suspected of the shooting.

The tractor-trailer was stopped on Union Road near Walden Ave in the Town of Cheektowaga. The vehicle’s operator, Dylan Cottingham of Sullivan, Ohio, was taken into custody and a search of the 26-year-old’s vehicle turned up a .45 caliber handgun and multiple magazines.

State Police located the tractor-trailer that had been shot at where it had pulled off the road near exit 50. The vehicle had a female driver, a female passenger, and a 10-year-old girl who was sleeping in the truck’s sleeper cab. An investigation found multiple bullet holes in the vehicle including one very close to where the child had been sleeping.

Cottingham was charged with Attempted Murder, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, and Menacing. He was arraigned at Newstead Town Court and taken to the Erie County Holding Center without bail.
