    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

    Until 7 PM EST Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times this afternoon into the evening with hourly rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Official Misconduct Investigation Underway at Monroe County Jail

Following allegations of official misconduct, an investigation is underway at the Monroe County Jail.

Based upon information developed by members of the Command Staff at the Monroe County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations of official misconduct and reports of physical altercations between incarcerated individuals, within the confines of the jail located in Rochester.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, individuals identified as potentially being involved have been isolated during the course of the investigation to ensure the safety of everyone inside the jail and the security of the facility.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section is leading the investigation. Additionally, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office notified the NYS Commission of Corrections and the NYS Attorney General’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is also in consultation with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and are conducting a separate Internal Affairs investigation into these allegations.

More information will be released upon completion of the ongoing investigations.
