A head-on collision on State Highway 28 in the town of Delhi has left one man dead and an off-duty New York State Trooper seriously injured.
The crash happened shortly after 4 Friday afternoon. According to New York State Police, 71-year-old Roger Hadley of Andes, NY, was driving a pickup truck southbound when he crossed the double yellow line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a northbound SUV.
Hadley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was identified as Trooper Anna Aulino, who had just finished her shift and was driving home in her personal vehicle. Aulino, a 2023 graduate of the New York State Police Academy assigned to Troop C, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is conducting a full investigation of the crash, and the Office of the Attorney General has also been notified and is reviewing the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
