As some fear the nation could see another blow to abortion access, New York State will begin stockpiling abortion medication.
“New York will always be a safe harbor for abortion care.”
Governor Kathy Hochul made the announcement that the state’s Department of Health will purchase and store 150-thousand doses of the drug Misoprostol, enough for a five year supply.
The governor is also working with the legislature to require private insurers to cover the medication when prescribed off-label for abortion and to make sure providers don’t face increased charges or lose coverage due to prescribing Misoprostol off-label.
