Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) is celebrating all things Girl Scouts on Sunday — the first day of Girl Scout Week! Girl Scout Week 2024 runs March 10-16.
Commemorated every March, Girl Scout Week starts with Girl Scout Sunday, ends with Girl Scout Sabbath/Shabbat on a Saturday, and always includes Girl Scouts’ birthday on March 12. It also includes council-organized activities for GSNYPENN members. This year, the Girl Scout Movement celebrates its 112th birthday.
“Girl Scout Week is a time when members and alums shout their Girl Scout pride from the rooftops,” says GSNYPENN CEO Julie Dale. “We invite all communities across our footprint to celebrate this special week with us.”
Everyone can take part in Girl Scout Week—whether they’re a current Girl Scout, adult member, volunteer, alum, or friend of Girl Scouting. GSNYPENN shares suggested activities on its dedicated event page at gsnypenn.org/gsweek and will offer daily posts during the week on its Facebook page at facebook.com/GSNYPENN.
The council’s themed days during Girl Scout Week 2024 include:
- Service Sunday – Attend a faith service in your Girl Scout uniform
- Make Friends Monday – Meet new people and spread kindness
- Traditions Tuesday – Learn about Girl Scout history
- Wanderlust Wednesday – Explore the world around you
- Think Ahead Thursday – Share your plans for a better tomorrow
- Flash Mob Friday – Organize a Girl Scouts flash mob in your community
- Stewardship Saturday – Combine your talents to make the world a better place
Girl Scout Week is also a time when many troops celebrate connections between Girl Scouting and their faith, learn more about other faiths and thank faith partners for their support throughout the year. Girls can join festivities on three designated dates (or a day of their choosing): Girl Scout Sunday on March 10, Girl Scout Jummah on March 15 and Girl Scout Sabbath/Shabbat on March 15-16. Whether they participate in a worship service, plan an activity before or after service, or organize a service project, Girl Scouts honor these meaningful connections in many ways.
