The New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Legal Online Cannabis Activities Locator (LOCAL) map—a tool designed to make the application process more efficient, transparent, and affordable. LOCAL, developed from data in the Cannabis Licensing System (CLS), is another step forward in OCM’s effort to be responsive to stakeholder feedback in a way that supports the needs of applicants and stakeholders across the supply chain.

Before the LOCAL map, applicants and licensees had the costly and time-consuming task of hiring surveying companies to navigate the complexities of compliance and location requirements. The introduction of LOCAL eliminates this hurdle, empowering applicants, and businesses to make decisions without the need for third-party intervention, and at no cost.
“LOCAL is a paradigm shift for New York’s cannabis industry, providing both businesses and stakeholders with the resources they need to successfully navigate the rapidly growing market,” said Felicia A.B. Reid, Acting Executive Director of the New York State Office of Cannabis Management. “This application reflects OCM’s commitment to transparency and to action based on listening to the needs of the market.”
The LOCAL application has two essential tools. The first is an industry-focused map tailored for applicants, licensees, and stakeholders, featuring advanced capabilities such as generating proximity reports, searching licenses, exporting data, and navigating multiple data layers. The second tool, coming out in the next few weeks is a consumer-focused dispensary map that will allow New Yorkers to easily locate the nearest legal dispensary, ensuring access to safe, regulated cannabis products.
There are currently 197 adult-use dispensaries open for business across New York state. Find a full list of dispensaries here.
