New York State’s unemployment rate rose by three-tenths of a percentage point between September and November.
Preliminary figures released Tuesday by the State Department of Labor show the seasonally adjusted jobless rate increased over those two months. Data for October was unavailable due to the federal government shutdown at the time.
Despite the rise in unemployment, the state added 83,700 private-sector jobs compared to November 2024. The statewide labor force participation rate also increased, rising from 60.9 percent in September to 61.2 percent in November.
