A new campaign has been launched to get kids and families off their phones and enjoy outdoor recreation this summer.
Governor Hochul announced the “Get Offline, Get Outside” campaign to promote spending time with family and friends while enjoying the health benefits of nature.
“We’re making it easier for our young people to put down their phones and computers, enjoy time with friends and family, and stay active all across our state,” Governor Hochul said. “Summer is here – get offline and get outside.”
As part of the initiative swimming pool fees are being waived at state parks throughout the summer.
The state has also launched the $1.5M Connect Kids to Swimming Instruction Grant program to assist with transporting children to swimming lessons as part of the NY SWIMS initiative. This complements New York’s previous $150M NY SWIMS investment supporting pools in underserved areas/
