A full shakedown at the Onondaga County Justice Center turned up no drugs or weapons.
The Sheriff’s Office reported a full shakedown Wednesday of the Syracuse facility by members of the office’s Custody, Correction, and Police divisions along with members of the Academy Class. SERT and SWAT members were also on-site to provide extra security during searches of cells and occupied areas.
Syracuse Police and Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies were also on hand to help with K9 responsibilities.
Calling it a “testament to the hard work OCSO Custody Deputies do each day to ensure that the people living at the jail and the staff are safe,” the office would like to thank all those involved. Following the success of the operation, the sheriff’s office plans more shakedowns in the future.
