New York Gas Prices Remain Above National Average

SHARE NOW

Gas prices in New York State continue to trend higher than the national average, despite a slight dip over the past week.

As of Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in New York is $3.18—three cents above the national average of $3.15. While the national price rose by a penny since last week, New York’s average dropped by one cent.

Compared to this time last year, both prices are down. The national average was $3.52 a year ago, while New York drivers were paying around $3.63 per gallon.

AAA of Western and Central New York reports that with summer road trips in full swing, drivers are getting a break at the pump as gas prices match July 2021 numbers. The national average for a gallon of regular gas this morning stands at $3.15, just one cent higher than a week ago. An abundance of supply in the oil market has kept prices suppressed even as demand for gas crept up after Independence Day. The Energy Information Administration reports that gasoline demand increased from 8.64 million barrels per day to 9.15 b/d in the last week.
