The average price for a gallon of gasoline in New York is $3.09, down two cents from last Monday. One year ago, the New York State average was $3.69.
The national average on Monday is $3.15, down eight cents from last Monday.
According to AAA of Western and Central New York, as spring break travel winds down, gas prices are following suit, down five cents since last week. Lower demand is fueling this downward trend, and with crude as low as it’s been in a few years, drivers may continue to see lower pump prices as summer approaches.
According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA gasoline demand increased slightly from 8.42 b/d last week to 8.46 b/d. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 236.0 million barrels to 234.0. Gasoline production increased last week, averaging 9.4 million barrels per day. Crude oil prices have increased slightly, ranging from $63 to $69 per barrel this morning.
For drivers who use diesel fuel, the national average price for diesel is $3.56, down two cents from last Monday. The New York average is $3.90, down a cent from last Monday.
