New York Gas Prices Dip Slightly, Remain Below Last Year’s Levels

SHARE NOW

Drivers in New York are seeing a small break at the pump this week. According to AAA of Western and Central New York, the state average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.23, down two cents from last Monday and eight cents cheaper than this time last year, when the average was $3.31.

Nationally, the average price is holding steady at $3.18 per gallon — about the same as a year ago. Gas prices across much of the country remain relatively flat as demand stays weak and oil prices hover in the mid-$60s per barrel.

AAA notes that motorists in the Pacific Northwest faced sharp increases last week due to a pipeline outage, but no similar disruptions are affecting New York. Forecasters are monitoring two storm systems in the Atlantic, though neither is expected to impact Gulf Coast refineries. If supply continues to outpace demand, experts say drivers could see the usual seasonal decline in pump prices this fall.

Diesel costs are unchanged. The New York average remains $3.90 per gallon, while the national average sits at $3.69.
