New York Gas Prices Dip Ahead of Holiday Travel

SHARE NOW

Drivers in New York are seeing slightly lower prices at the pump as the holiday travel season approaches. According to AAA Western and Central New York, the state average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.10, down two cents from last week. Prices remain below last year’s average of $3.14, and the national average is $2.91, the lowest it has been in four years.

Locally, gas prices vary across the region: Batavia is at $3.13, Buffalo $3.14, Elmira $2.95, Ithaca $3.21, Rochester $3.15, Rome $3.16, Syracuse $3.06, and Watertown $3.13.

Experts say lower crude oil prices, cheaper winter-blend gasoline, and weaker demand are contributing to the declines. Diesel prices are also falling, with the New York average at $3.92 per gallon, down a penny from last week.

As a record number of travelers prepare to hit the road later this month, drivers are benefiting from lower prices compared with last holiday season, when the national average closed out 2024 at $3.04 per gallon.
