A woman who once worked as an aide to Andrew Cuomo while he was Governor has filed a lawsuit against her former boss.
Brittany Commisso filed the lawsuit under the Adult Survivors Act which allows people who were sexually assaulted as adults sue their abuser in a civil case, regardless as to when it happened. A former executive assistant to Cuomo, Commissio accused the former Governor of unwanted sexual advances and groping her in 2019 and in 2020. The suit claims after she reported the allegations, she was demoted by then Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul to answering phones in her office. Commisso claims the demotion hurt her career, led to ostracism, and loss of overtime.
Cuomo ultimately resigned as governor in August 2021 following sexual misconduct allegations by Commisso and several other women. He has denied the allegations.
