A New Jersey truck driver was arrested following a fatal crash Monday on the Thruway.
According to state police, the incident happened around 10:15p on I-90 West near exit 25A in Rotterdam, Schenectady County.
It was determined that two tractor-trailers were travelling westbound when one vehicle, driven by a Canadian, crashed into the rear of the other. The Canadian driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, Manuel Aristyaria of Passaic, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. He was issued an appearance ticket for Rotterdam Town Court in December.
A portion of I-90 West was closed for roughly seven hours for the investigation and vehicle removal.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
