New Committee Assignments in New Congress for Senator Gillibrand

SHARE NOW

New York’s junior senator will have a couple of new committee assignments in the new Congress. Kirsten Gillibrand will join the Senate Committee on Appropriations, which oversees federal spending and allocates funding to programs and government agencies.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected to serve on the Senate Committee on Appropriations. This role is an incredible opportunity to ensure that federal dollars are used to make life better for Americans, support hardworking families, and address the pressing challenges faced by our nation at home and abroad. As I assume this new position, I am committed to continuing to advocate for the needs of New Yorkers, and I look forward to helping deliver federal funding to programs and organizations in New York that help our great state thrive.”

She also became the ranking member on the Senate Aging Committee:

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve older Americans across New York and nationwide. More than 59 million Americans are aged 65 years and older, and that number will continue to rise in the coming years. It is absolutely essential that Congress leads the effort to invest in the well-being of our aging loved ones. I plan to continue my work fighting to bring down the cost of prescription drugs, protecting Social Security and Medicare, guarding against financial scams, and ensuring that every American can age with dignity and financial security.”

Senator Gillibrand has served on the Senate Aging Committee since 2009.

In addition to serving on the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Gillibrand will continue serving on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services.
