On Monday, a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy turned himself in to authorities following an arrest stemming from a domestic investigation.
Sean Mayo, 44, of Penfield, was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony, and Stalking in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. Mayo, who is currently employed in the Sheriff’s Office Police Bureau, has been suspended pending the results of an internal investigation.
Following his arraignment in Monroe County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, a judge set bail at $2,500 cash or bond.
The Sheriff’s Office released a statement emphasizing that they take domestic violence seriously and continue to work with community partners to support victims and promote safety.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
