The semiconductor facility coming to Central New York has received another jolt from the state.
The New York Power Authority has awarded Micron a ReCharge NY power allocation.
This means the semiconductor facility will be able to receive roughly 140 megawatts (MW) of power from the authority, allowing the company to lower energy costs.
The state predicts such a move will create roughly 23-hundred jobs. Micron is set to invest 100-Billion to build the world’s largest memory manufacturing facility in the Town of Clay, Onondaga County.
“These transformative economic development awards to Amazon, Micron and other businesses across the state will create thousands of jobs and spur billions in economic activity,” Governor Hochul said. “New York continues to secure its legacy as the most business-friendly and worker-friendly state in the nation, while advancing the aggressive goals of our nation-leading climate agenda — creating a greener, more prosperous Empire State.”
Other regional groups awarded a ReCharge NY power allocation are Alstom Transportation Inc in Hornell (3.11MW), Diamond Packaging Holdings LLC in Rochester (0.90MW), Lotte Biologics USA LLC in East Syracuse (2.81MW), and N.E.T. & Die Inc in Fulton (0.06).
