A Liverpool man has been arrested following an investigation into the embezzlement of more than $13,000 from a Cortland County auto dealership.
On Monday, New York State Police at SP Homer arrested 40-year-old Jason Allen, on charges of Forgery in the Second Degree and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, both Class D felonies.
According to investigators, the alleged theft occurred while Allen was employed at the dealership. He is accused of signing referral checks—which were meant for customers—and endorsing them to himself instead.
Allen was processed at SP Homer and then transported to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
