State lawmakers will be able to spend Easter weekend with their families after passing a budget extender on Thursday.
At the request of the Governor, the state budget is now due April 4th, instead of April 1st as stated by law. The Governor has proposed a $233 billion spending bill for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
In addition to being given more time to finalize the budget, the extender will also allow state workers to continue to be paid.
Lawmakers will return to Albany for session on Tuesday.
