Jordan Neighbors Arrested Following Shots Fired Incident

SHARE NOW

What started as a neighbor argument in the Village of Jordan escalated into a shots-fired incident Thursday night and led to the arrest of two residents.

Troopers were called to Mechanic Street around 8:00 p.m. after reports that a gun had been fired.

Investigators say a dispute between neighbors in upstairs and downstairs apartments turned physical when the upstairs resident, 43-year-old Renee Fatta of Jordan, allegedly forced her way into the downstairs apartment and accused someone of stealing packages. Police say she was pushed out and the door was shut.

A short time later, as one of the downstairs residents went outside to move a vehicle, 40-year-old Daniel Ballard allegedly came downstairs with a rifle and fired one round into the driveway area. No one was hit and no injuries were reported.

State Police later obtained a search warrant for the upstairs apartment, where they seized three firearms, ammunition, and body armor.

Ballard was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, multiple weapons possession charges, and unlawful purchase and possession of body armor. He was taken to Syracuse City Court pending arraignment.

Fatta was charged with criminal trespass and harassment. She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Elbridge Town Court on January 26.

The Jordan Police Department and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. State Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
