A federal grand jury has indicted a Jamestown man on charges of threatening a federal law enforcement officer and making interstate threats to injure a person.

Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that the grand jury returned an indictment charging 43-year-old Matthew White with threatening to assault and murder a federal officer and with interstate communication of a threat to injure a person. The charges each carry a potential sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison.

According to the indictment, on April 30, 2025, White allegedly threatened to assault and murder a federal law enforcement officer employed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with the intent to interfere with the officer’s official duties.

Prosecutors also allege White posted threatening messages on the social media platform X, including statements threatening violence against the officer and the officer’s family.

White was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and was released on conditions.

The indictment follows an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
