SHARE NOW

A homeless man was charged with felony burglary after he allegedly broke into an occupied home in Onondaga County.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, both homeowners were inside of the town of Pompey home when Austin Bryant broke in and retreated to a secure room after fearing for their safety. When law enforcement arrived on scene, they witnessed the homeowners attempting to escape their home. When the couple were in a safe location, they informed deputies that the residence had multiple firearms inside and where they were located.

Deputies attempted to contact the intruder but with no success. After over seven hours of attempted negotiations, SWAT members breached the house and were able to take the 40-year-old into custody without issues.

Bryant was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor petit larceny.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
