As children hit the streets to celebrate Halloween, multiple groups are offering tips to keep trick-or-treaters safe:
For Trick-or-Treaters:
- Use sidewalks whenever possible and only cross the street at crosswalks.
- Watch for cars backing up or turning
- Have kids carry glowsticks or flashlights with them
For drivers:
- Take extra time to look for kids at intersections
- Slow down in residential neighborhoods
- Turn on headlights earlier in the day
State and local law enforcement will have additional patrols and checkpoints to combat impaired and distracted driving.
