Several local events and not-for-profit organizations will share in grants totaling 190-THOUSAND dollars from the New York State Canal Corporation and the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.
$24,000 in grant funding was awarded to the Arc of Wayne’s Erie Shore Landing Retail Co-Op in Newark.
Local events that will be awarded grant funding include Waterloo’s Celebrate Commemorate Memorial Day later this month, the Music on the Erie concert series in Newark and the Macedon Heritage Festival on the Erie.
$18,750 will allow the Samuel Center for Canal History in Port Byron to make its restrooms fully ADA compliant, include changing stations, and incorporate greener technology.
The Canal Society of New York State purchased the former Saint John’s Catholic Church property in 2022 to convert it to store and exhibit their archives.
