Governor Kathy Hochul on Sunday issued a proclamation declaring March 2023 Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in New York State to increase awareness of growing rates of colorectal cancer. The Governor also announced that New York State landmarks will be lit blue tonight, March 12, in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
“Today we proclaim March 2023 as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and light New York State landmarks blue to highlight the importance of screenings and preventative measures that decrease a person’s risk to develop colorectal cancer,” Governor Hochul said. “I urge New Yorkers to have discussions with their providers regarding these life-saving screenings and join the greater conversation that raises awareness surrounding colorectal cancer.”
