Goodwill of the Finger Lakes has announced plans to open a new retail store at Skyview on the Ridge in Irondequoit, a project expected to bring new jobs, economic growth, and community investment to the area.
The project is being funded in part through $1.3 million in state support, with State Senator Samra Brouk contributing $1 million from the New York State Community Investment Fund and Assemblywoman Sarah Clark adding $300,000 in additional funding.
The new Goodwill location—set to occupy about 25,000 square feet within the former Irondequoit Mall—will feature both a large retail floor and back-of-house operations. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, pending final state contracts and approvals.
The store will offer a wide range of gently used apparel, shoes, accessories, home décor, and seasonal items, with inventory refreshed daily. The project is anticipated to create 45 new jobs and generate millions in tax revenue for the Town of Irondequoit.
Goodwill officials said proceeds from store sales will directly support community programs such as Goodwill Vision Services, 211/LIFE LINE, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, and other workforce development and sustainability initiatives.
Senator Brouk said the investment represents more than a retail expansion, calling Goodwill “a lifeline to underserved residents.” She said the new location will strengthen access to jobs and connect community members with critical mental health and crisis support services.
Goodwill of the Finger Lakes President and CEO Jennifer Lake said the organization is proud to bring a store to Irondequoit, noting that the project “creates jobs, strengthens community programs, and gives new life to an unoccupied space.” She added that each new store opening expands opportunities and helps fund programs that serve vulnerable populations across the Finger Lakes region.
