A visit to Central New York on Monday will see Senator Kirsten Gillibrand introduce legislation that would protect service members from blast overpressure by enacting a variety of preventative health measures. Senator Gillibrand will introduce her “Blast Overpressure Safety Act” legislation that would protect service members from blast overpressure by enacting a variety of preventative health measures.
“Tens of thousands of service members, especially those who fought in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, suffer from traumatic brain injuries,” said Senator Gillibrand. “Many of these injuries are a result of their long-term exposure to explosive weapons with unsafe blast levels, and despite the well-known harmful effects, these weapons continue to be employed by the U.S. armed forces.”
Gillibrand will be joined by VFW Post 2246 Post Commander Will Ginter; VFW Department of NY Legislative Chair Ann Marie Hogancamp; VFW Department of NY District 4 Commander Matthew VanEtten; and Mayor of Rome Jeff Lanigan.
