    WHAT
    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

    From 1 AM Sunday to 7 PM EST Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snow will overspread Northeast PA and the New York Southern Tier between 4 AM and 7 AM Sunday morning, moving north to the I-90 corridor by the mid-morning hours on Sunday. At this time, the heaviest snowfall is forecast to fall across the northern tier of Northeast PA, Catskills and Susquehanna region of NY. However, minor adjustments to storm total snowfall are still possible. Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening with hourly rates exceeding 2 to 3 inches per hour. The snow tapers down, becoming light to moderate after midnight Sunday night into Monday morning. Occasional light snow and blowing snow then continue into Monday afternoon. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order.

Gilda’s Club Rochester Launches “MyCancerSupport” App

Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Rochester is excited to announce the launch of MyCancerSupport, a no-cost mobile application designed for anyone impacted by cancer, including patients, family members, and caregivers. The app is available for free download from Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The development of the mobile app is a result of a partnership between the Cancer Support Community’s national organization and Equiva Health, a respected digital patient engagement innovator, with a platform supporting tens of thousands of interactions daily in health facilities and homes across the United States.

MyCancerSupport is intended to be an easy and simple way for users to access a diversity of resources and support services. It combines the exceptional support and navigation services offered by nationwide network partners – Cancer Support Community and Gilda’s Club agencies. It incorporates their award-winning educational tools and resources into a single, easy-to-navigate platform. The app is tailored to each network partner, helping users connect with the programs and services offered by their local Cancer Support Community or Gilda’s Club organization.

The MyCancerSupport App has four key focus areas:

  •  Find Support – Users can connect to a nationwide cancer support hotline and access the local agency website.
  • Connect Locally – Direct access to programs and services offered by Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Rochester.
  • Get Educated – Access to educational programs, webinars, tools, and resources.
  • Get Involved – Information on volunteer opportunities with the local organization and opportunities for patients/caregivers to share experiences and insights through the national network
